A theatrical weathered environment created through the augmentation of existing systems. In order to treat the Battersea Power Station arena as a theatre, simultaneously generating a feasible revenue model for its owners, the augmenting of currently proposed systems and devices was proposed, justifying the average 20-30% of costs going on HVAC, IT, environmental systems etc. The chosen option to manipulate the smoke curtain, whose size dwarfs Nelson Column, enables a choreography of a performance space that responds directly and indirectly to the users. Offering larger programmed events through the manipulation of conditions, from acoustic to atmospheric whilst retaining however, in case of fire, its integrity as a safety device. |
